About The Trek
Kedartal Trek
Kedartal Trek is one of the most spectacular high-altitude treks in Uttarakhand, taking you deep into the majestic Garhwal Himalayas. The trek begins from the sacred town of Gangotri and leads through dramatic Himalayan landscapes, dense forests, rugged trails and high-altitude terrain to the stunning Kedartal Lake.
Located at an altitude of around 15,583 ft, Kedartal is a glacial lake surrounded by some of the most impressive Himalayan peaks, including Thalaysagar, Bhrigupanth, Manda, Jogin and Mt. Kedar Dome. The trail offers an exciting combination of challenging ascents, rocky terrain, alpine meadows and breathtaking mountain views.
Unlike easier Himalayan treks, Kedartal demands good physical fitness and previous trekking experience. The changing terrain and high altitude make it a rewarding adventure for trekkers looking for a more challenging Himalayan experience.
Starting from Gangotri, the route passes through Bhoj Kharak, Kedar Kharak and the spectacular Kedartal campsite before reaching the lake. The return journey follows the same route back to Gangotri.
